  • HIV Prevention Co-op
    • Hosting a Glow Party (Poster) on 10/29 from 10pm to 1am at the Copa & Finishline in OKC. Free glow-in-the-dark condoms, necklaces, and more! 
       
  • Homeless Alliance / Housing Opportunities for People With AIDS (HOPWA)
    • New HOPWA supervisor, Randy May, was present for meeting. Contact info:

    • Stated current focus is on training staff & forming stronger linkages with partner agencies. 
    • HOPWA team meets twice weekly.
    • Connie Beaver w/ The Winds House is also serving as a housing case manager, specifically representing The Winds House. 
       
  • Latino Community Development Agency (LCDA)
    • New Director of Health Programs: Yuliana Reyes. Contact: (405) 236-0701.
       
  • Oklahoma AIDS Care Fund (OACF)
    • World AIDS Day is December 1st. A list of confirmed events is available on the OKC AIDS Coalition website here.
    • OACF Networking Luncheon will be December 16th from 12:00 - 1:30pm at Expressions Community Center. Featured speaker/guest will be Integris Mind/Body/Spirit program. 
    • Red Tie Night is March 4, 2017 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Tickets are available online.
    • OACF is planning a HIV symposium for June 2017. Event will have 3 presentation tracks: medical providers, social services, and general public. More details to come.
    • Reminders/clarifications from Cher Golding, Executive Director: 
      • The focus of the OK AIDS Advocacy Coalition program is to advocate for protecting (or increasing) state funding for HIV/AIDS services in Oklahoma. Short-term goal is to simply educate elected officials about the HIV epidemic in our state. 
      • Any 501(c)(3) organization is eligible to apply for grants through OACF during their annual application period. 
         
  • Oklahoma Primary Care Association / ACA Marketplace Navigators
    • Reminder: Marketplace Open Enrollment begins November 1st. 
    • Provided handout with contact info for Marketplace navigators.
    • Reminder/request to please send clients to Navigators with their username & password for the Marketplace site, if at all possible, as they will need to be able to login to update their info and enroll in a plan.
       
  • Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) HIV/STD Service
    • Portia King Dietrich, OKC DIS Supervisor, was present and shared the following:
      • Two new DIS have been hired: Jordan Canary & Lucy Xiong. 
      • DIS county assignments may shift slightly to reflect shifting workloads.
      • DIS are seeing increasing in number of syphilis cases.
      • Appears to be increase in injection drug use (IDU) among new HIV cases. Meth is still most commonly injection drug, but opioid use is increasing. No noted use of opana (yet).
         
  • OUHSC Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI)
    • Recently hired a new Nurse Practitioner, Melissa Alfred. She is currently in training and will begin seeing patients in a couple of months. Should be fully operational beginning 2017.
    • Case Management changes: Amber May's last day is 10/26; Jennifer Perry will start early November.
    • Currently interviewing for additional LPN and front desk positions.
    • Reminder that the FreshLife farmer's market is held on the 3rd Friday of each month at RAIN. Contact Jussara Madrid, dietitian, for details or to refer clients. 
       
  • The Winds House
    • Renovations to 18th Street property starting soon, so all residents are currently housed in the 17th Street property. Once renovations to 18th St are complete, residents will be moved over and renovations will begin on 17th St.
    • Currently have 1 vacancy; send all referrals thru HOPWA.
       
  • OKC Indian Clinic
    • Services available to anyone with a CDIB card, and their waiting list is much shorter now. Call (405) 948-4900 x469. 
    • Hepatitis C clinic is available.
       
  • Diversity Center of Oklahoma 
    • Opens 10/24 @ Expressions
    • Provides mental health counseling by licensed staff and some OSU counseling interns.
    • Accepts Medicaid & private insurance, and offers a sliding scale.
